Nokia UK Life Routes At The National Gallery
Take part in the Nokia UK Life Routes At The National Gallery
Aspiring UK artists will be soon be enjoying having their work on public display at the prestigious National Gallery.
Life Routes engages with young people between the ages of 11 and 19 that live in areas identified by the UK Government as requiring specific regeneration and development. Life Routes is formed of a network of local programmes funded by Nokia and managed by the National Children's Bureau (NCB).
In October last year, the young people visited London to take part in a workshop examining public art and sculpture as part of the Modern Monuments project developed by The National Gallery. In association with the Mayor of London's Fourth Plinth Project, they were challenged to design their own mini-monument and plinth.
Three months later the 16 budding sculptors from 4 regions have been rewarded with a private exhibition of their masterpieces in one of the country's leading art institutions.
Work completed by the young people will go on display at the National Gallery from Friday January 25th and will be exhibited until March 30th. The National Gallery is open daily from 10am to 6pm and until 9pm on Wednesdays.
