London Marathon
Line the route of the London Marathon 2008 and watch in awe as thousands of runners take to the streets
Its that time of year again, the time when people get outside and start...doing stuff.
On Sunday April 13th nutters will be taking to the streets to raise money for various causes and you can be there to line the route and watch them sweat.
You can expect to see crowds of half a million line the 26.2 mile course offering shouts of encouragement and congratulations while pubs on the route link up with charities to provide their own entertainment for spectators and runners alike. The festival atmosphere is added to by an array of bands and street entertainers.
The start takes place in Blackheath/Greenwich between 9am and 9.45am and the route takes runners all around Central London before ending in The Mall.
One of the best (but most crowded) areas to watch the Marathon is from the start route in Greenwich. From here you can cross the river via the Greenwich Foot Tunnel and and watch runners make their way through Millwall. To avoid the crowds (and transportation nightmares) stay close to Isle of Dogs and Canary Wharf.
As ever the finish will be in St James Park, this is by far the busiest area of the course, and finding a runner may be difficult in the crowds.
REMEMBER! Some roads will be closed, the streets will be very busy and tube and train stations will be very crowded with some station being temporarily closed to clear the crowds. Please dress appropriately for April and think carefully before taking along any young children.
