Breakthrough
Sample an exhibition of some of the Imperial War Museum's British art collection
Breakthrough is a major re-hang of the Imperial War Museum's collection of British art.
The display will incorporate outstanding artworks from the official art schemes of both world wars and significant non-official and contemporary works.
Among the items on display will be work by officially commissioned artists such as Paul Nash, CRW Nevinson, John Piper and Eric Ravillious, as well as some recently acquired paintings by William Scott and Robert Colquhoun. The exhibition will also showcase some contemporary pieces from the collection, including Two Blue Car Doors by Bill Woodrow and Theatre, an installation by Graham Fagen resulting from his 1999 Artistic Records Committee commission in Kosovo
The exhibition is running from Tuesday March 4th to Wednesday December 31st. The Imperial War Museum is open daily from 10am to 6pm excepting Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
