11th annual Streatham Common Kite Day

The 11th annual Streatham Common Kite Day will be held on Sunday the 13th of April 2008. Let's hope that it will be as big a success last year.Everyone is welcome to attend, there is no charge for attending. You do not need to bring along a kite or have ever even tried to fly a kite before you can simple watch the demonstrations by the professional kite flyers.
This year we will be having our first ever altitude sprint. We will have CAA clearance to fly to 1,000 feet.
The Brighton Kite Flyers will be along for the day performing teddy bear parachute drops, so bring along your teddy bear if you want it dropped. They will also hopefully be bringing along some very big kites again.
If you want to buy a kite, the Highwaymen will have a stall selling all kinds of kites including single line, dual line and multi-line for beginners and above, as well as other kite related stuff.
If you get hungry or thirsty in between the demonstrations then there will be food and drink for sale from a number of catering vendors (including a beer tent) on the common.
*There are rumours that Blackheath might be having a kite festival again for the first time in many years on 14-15 June.
Tube - It's a fair trek from Tooting Bec tube station to Streatham Common but it is the nearest tube stop. Take bus number 249 from the station to Streatham Common. Take a tube to Stockwell and catch the 255, or get off at Brixton tube station and change to the 109, 118 or 250 bus.
Bus - None of the routes that service Streatham continue to the North side of the Thames, but there are good connections with underground and railways. Routes 50, 60,109, 118, 249, 250, 255, G1, N133 and N159.
Train - Southern towards Wimbledon from London Bridge pass Streatham.
