Learn the secrets to Being Creative When Captive at the Imperial War Museum this April

captive.jpgHow would you be creative if you found yourself taken hostage in a foreign land?

In 1997, Camilla Carr and Jonathan James went to Chechnya to help run a centre for traumatised children affected by the war between Russia and Chechnya.

They were taken hostage by Chechen rebels for 14 months and were deprived of the most basic of human needs. However, they remained positive that they would be released and did not condemn their captors.

During this special day at the Imperial War Museum visitors are shown how prisoners have often had to be inventive with whatever materials they can find to help recreate some of the comforts and entertainments from normal life.

Using whatever materials you have in your pockets be creative and create your own games and puzzles and works of art.

You can learn how to be creative when captive daily between Saturday April 5th and Sunday April 20th from 11am to 4pm at the Imperial War Museum.

Admission to all family events and activities is free. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
