From Seeing To Showing
Take a look at From Seeing To Showing this June at the Red Gate Gallery
The Red Gate Gallery will this spring be hosting an exhibition of works by the young members of the From Seeing to Showing project.
This collection of photographs was produced by a committed group of young people who participated in the first From Seeing To Showing project which is part of a three-year long programme being run by Zoom In.
From Seeing To Showing is a series of four workshops that took place over the summer of 2007 with the aim of promoting to its participants the concept of Volunteering. Through photography, creative exchange and team-spirit, the project strove to provide insight and valuable skills in teaching and running workshops, whilst simultaneously giving young people a means of self-expression.
The workshops ran for two weeks with each one overlapping the previous one: during the first week the young participants gained knowledge of basic digital photography, including technical camera skills, composition techniques and digital imaging. They were also introduced to medium format photography, studio lighting, and black and white printing. In the second week they returned as volunteers to demonstrate their knowledge of photography to the next group of young participants, requiring them to use and develop their team-building and learning/training skills.
The exhibition of the work will be held from Friday June 6th to Thursday June 12th. The Red Gate Gallery will be open from Friday to Wednesday 2.30pm to 6.30pm and from 11am to 6.30pm on Thursday.
