The Fabulous Picture Show - 'Mongol'
Enjoy a free screening of 'Mongol' during the Fabulous Picture Show in Hampstead
The Fabulous Picture show is a free event during which a film is screened and afterwards the audience is invited to discuss some issues raised by the film.
On Wednesday April 30th there will be a special screening of 'Mongol'.
Genghis Khan is one of the most famous leaders in world history. He was the creator of a vast Mongolian Empire who conquered half of the globe.
Award-winning Russian filmmaker Sergei Bodrov illuminates the life and legend of Genghis Khan in his stunning historical epic, Mongol. Based on leading scholarly accounts and written by Bodrov and Arif Aliyev, Mongol delves into the dramatic and harrowing early years of the ruler who was born as Temudgin in 1162.
As it follows Temudgin from his perilous childhood to the battle that sealed his destiny, the film paints a multidimensional portrait of the future conqueror, revealing him not as the evil brute of hoary stereotype, but as an inspiring, fearless and visionary leader. Mongol shows us the making of an extraordinary man, and the foundation on which so much of his greatness rested: his relationship with his wife, Borte, his lifelong love and most trusted advisor.
Mongol was Oscar© nominated this year in the category for Best Foreign Language Film of the Year.
After the screening, audience members will have the chance to discuss the film with its director, Sergei Bodrov, in a Q&A hosted by journalist Amanda Palmer.
The film will be screened at the Everyman Cinema Club in Hampstead, doors open at 12pm. You can apply for tickets through Standing Room Only.
