Africa Day 2008
Head down to Trafalgar Square this May Bank Holiday to celebrate Africa Day!
Africa Day is an annual event taking place in Central London to commemorate the founding of the Organisation of African Unity in 1963, an organisation that is now known as the African Union.
This fantastic free festival takes place in Trafalgar Square and celebrates African culture the music, dance, arts and crafts, markets, food and drink!
This year festival goers can expect performances from Les Amazones de Guinée, Bassekou Kouyate, Kanda Bongo Man, Busi Ncube, Emmanuel Jal, Inemo Afrobeat Experience, Kaago Drummers, Black Eagles Dancers, DJ Rita Ray and DJ Eric Soul.
There will also be stalls selling African art and crafts, fairtrade treats, information on travelling to Africa, a food village and drumming workshops for kids.

How to get there
The closest tube and train station to Trafalgar Square is Charring Cross.
If on the bus the 3, 6, 9, 11, 12, 13, 15, 23, 24, 29, 53, 87, 88, 91, 139, 159, 176 and the 453 all serve Trafalgar Square.
