Blackheath Bike and Kite Festival
The skies of Blackheath come alive with kites of all shapes, sizes and colours at this special festival
This June the skies of Blackheath will come alive with kites of all shapes, sizes and colours as the Blackheath Bike and Kite Festival gets underway.
The Bike and Kite Festival has been organised by Festival Special Events, and the Kite Society, on behalf of Lewisham Council. The event, sponsored by Transport for London, is being held during National Bike Week.
The weekend-long festival will have something for everyone. With display arenas, entertainment and traders. Renowned UK mountain bike stunt display team, Team MAD, will demonstrate death defying leaps, jumps, hops and balancing skills. Kids can also get in on the act with special interactive in-between show skill sessions. As well as bikes and kites, there will be entertainment for the kids with a special children's fair.
For bike enthusiasts, Dr Bike will be on hand to offer advice and help on how to keep your bike in top condition.
Blackheath has a high vantage point beside the Thames, commanding a fine prospect over the capital, with views from Point Hill over Essex, Kent and Surrey. The site is a World Heritage Site buffer zone due to its situation adjacent to Greenwich Park World Heritage Site.
This fantastic free event is taking place over the weekend of June 14th and 15th from 11am to 4pm each day.
