Carnival De Cuba
Head down to Southwark Park for the Carnival de Cuba this June!
Carnival De Cuba is one of the biggest and best free festivals in London as it brings Latin America alive in Southwark Park.
Topping the bill is Charanga Habanera - one of the all-time Cuban great Salsa-Timba bands.
The island's reggaeton sensation Eminencia Clasica will be on the main stage along with the massive Cuban hip-hopper Telmary - and the legendary Ricardo Levya of Sur Caribe will be hosting the event.
Papo Record and Leximan will also play along with the Sugar Kings, the great new Cuban band Tumbao Tivoli - and on the dance and main stages we've got Homero Gonzales, Lazaro Lopez, Moe Flex plus DJs Jose Luis, Javier la Rosa, Dr Jim and Sol. The great Guillermo Davis will lead the Conga procession - and we'll have free dance and Conga drumming workshops with Drumheads.
Carnival de Cuba '08 will also be one of London's most kid-friendly events with kid's carnival face-painting, drumming and dance workshops - all free - plus fresh tropical smoothie bars, healthy and tasty kid's food - as well as family and baby-changing zones plus a funfair and kid's play zone. Bring your kid's to join the Conga procession!
The festival will also have an exciting link-up with Glastonbury where the Carnival touring bands will play on Friday 27th June. Santiago de Cuba carnival, the largest and best in Cuba, are also our official partners.
Of course there'll fresh, juicy Cuban cocktail and smoothie bars by Cubana bar-restaurant with Mojitos and Daiquiris at reasonable prices.
Carnival De Cuba is taking place on Saturday June 28th from 12pm to 9pm and Sunday June 29th from 12pm to 8pm.
