Honourable Artillery Company Open Day
Find out more about the Honourable Artillery Company at a special open day
To celebrate the Territorial Army's (TA) centenary year the oldest regiment in the British Army, the Honourable Artillery Company (HAC), is opening its magnificent grade II listed Head Quarters in the City to the public.
The one-off open evening will give Londoners the opportunity to go behind the scenes of a fascinating regiment, based in 6 acres of green land and hidden away in the heart of London's financial district.
Highlights of the event include a visit from an Apache and Chinook helicopter, displays of rare treasures and historic armoury, musical performances, a field kitchen, BBQ and bar facilities.
Dating back to 1537, the HAC is a TA regiment made up of around 400 civilians who regularly train in their spare time. The HAC's role encompasses surveillance and target acquisition patrols, as well as ceremonial duties in London.
Over 400 HAC soldiers from a range of backgrounds - from nurses to stockbrokers - will be on hand to talk about their experiences, including active service in Iraq and Afghanistan, at the forefront of a premier TA regiment.
This one-off event is taking place on Tuesday May 20th between 5.30pm and 8.30pm.
