Nissan Qashqai Challenge Mountain Bike Freeriding final
See the world's best mountain bikers compete to win the 100,000 euro grand prize
This Saturday, 24 May 2008, scores of the world's best mountain bike riders will show off their skills in the finals of the Nissan Qashqai urban mountain bike freeriding series.
If you're wondering what exactly 'urban mountain bike freeriding' is it can effectively be summed up as this: a bunch of nutters on push bikes performing ridiculous stunts across a variety of ramps and street furniture. In other words, it's like free running but it's on bikes and it's spectacular to watch (if only to see them fall from heights of up to 30 feet).
25 of the world's best mountain bikers will be competing to become the Freeride Champion of the Year and take home a cash prize of €100,000. As well the mountain riding tomfoolery there will also be an outdoor exhibition of street art to check out.
The event takes place outside the Tate Modern museum on London's South Bank between 11.45am - 8.00 pm. The timetable is as follows:
| 11.45am - 12.45pm | Qualification of 25 riders (first run) |
| 3.00pm - 4.00pm | Qualification of 25 riders (second run) |
| 5.30pm - 6.00pm | Final (first run) |
| 6.00pm - 6.30pm | Final (second run) |
| 6.30pm - 7.00pm | Final (third run) |
| 7.00pm - 7.15pm | Prize giving |
