Pure Peru
Celebrate Peruvian Independance Day with Pure Peru on Brick Lane!
This year Peruvian Independence Day will be celebrated during a special one-day event 'Pure Peru'.
Commemorating the 187th anniversary of the South American country's independence which falls on the 28th July, the 'Cusqueña Pure Peru festival represents a boon for would-be 'lonely-planeteers' and culture-vultures across the country many of whom will get their very first introduction to a country packed full of mystique and wonder right on their very doorstep.
Taking over East London's iconic Vibe Bar on Brick Lane on Sunday 27th July from 3pm to 11pm, Cusqueña's Pure Peru festival is a day long affair designed to give people a fun, cultural insight into one of the most fascinating countries on Earth. From the world wonder Machu Picchu to the bustling, artistic epicenter that makes up the country's capital Lima, Peru's many wonders have, up until now, remained strong in the hearts of the some 5,000 Peruvian natives that currently reside in London, but very little further.
Visitors to Brick Lane can expect to feast on fantastic Peruvian food, enjoy family arts and crafts and listen to three forms of Peruvian music, both modern and traditional. During the day, Afro Caribbean drums and bass will sit alongside the familiar sound of Andean jungle pan-pipes, complemented later by the unique sound of traditional Peruvian coastal music. Top Latin DJ's will be on hand during the later evening to see in the sunset.
