Trafalgar Square Festival 2008

Trafalgar Square Festival is London's annual programme of spectacular street arts and performance, set in the very heart of the capital.

This year, three weekends of extraordinary events capture the gathering excitement as London prepares for the moment of Olympic 'handover' on 24 August.

The festival is split up into three sections:

China Inspires will see UK and international artists transform Trafalgar Square with a theatrical spectacle including performances from the Yellow Earth Theatre and The Flying Dragon Circus.

Olympic Aspirations will put fresh new artistic voices, sport and young people at the heart of the festival and will feature performances from Zoo Nation and Bend It...

Images of London sees artists re-imagining London in surprising and ingenious ways. Miss High Leg Kick will present a theatrical fashion show and The Garden of Wonders will show London's public open spaces in a new light.

The festival takes place from August 7th to August 23rd on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings with performances at 1pm and 9pm.

How to get there

Underground: The closest tube and train station to Trafalgar Square is Charing Cross. Leicester Square is also a short walk away.

Bus: 3, 6, 9, 11, 12, 13, 15, 23, 24, 29, 53, 87, 88, 91, 139, 159, 176 and the 453 all serve Trafalgar Square.
