Liberty Festival - Free Music & Perfomance in Trafalgar Square
Festival celebrates deaf and disabled contribution to London culture
If the craziness of the Notting Hill Carnival doesn't quite sate your appetite for dancing in the streets, head to Trafalgar Square the following weekend for an afternoon of diversion on Saturday 30th August (1-6pm). The Square has already played host to Marc Quinn's arresting statue of the disabled (and pregnant) Alison Lapper, and the space continues to lend itself to celebrating deaf and disabled Londoner's contributions to the arts with the annual Liberty Festival.
Not to be confused with the human rights organisation Liberty, the festival comes from organisers at the Mayor of London's office with support from Attitude is Everything, London Disability Arts Forum and Shape.
Circus performers, comics, poets, musicians and dancers hail from all walks of life - and conquer myriad disabilities. Then again, you can always just go for the food. Keep an eye on the Festival webpage for updates.

- Programmes in different formats
- BSL interpretation and audio description
- Induction loops at information points
- Wheelchair loan service
- Free parking nearby for blue badge holders - limited availability, advance booking required

Piccadilly Circus (Bakerloo and Piccadilly lines)
Embankment (Bakerloo, Northern, District and Circle lines)
By bus: 3, 6, 9, 11, 12, 13, 15, 23, 24, 53, 77A, 88, 91, 139, 159, 176, 453 go past Trafalgar Square. Routes 22 and 94 will drop you at nearby Piccadilly Circus.
By rail: Charing Cross Station is a 2 minute walk away
