Food Magicians' Barbican - Magical Haven for aspiring little conscientious cooks

foodmagic1_pg.jpgOn Wednesday the 29th of October, the Barbican Children's Library will be transformed into a magical haven for little cooks, in order to celebrate the launch of The Food Magicians' Spell Book.

The book is the debut release by new publishers with a conscience, Conch Press. Children - and their parents and guardians - are welcomed to spend a fun day out, be engaged and entertained, and perhaps learn a thing or two.

The aim of The Food Magicians' Spell Book is to reconnect children with the magic of food through spells and poems. With the help of The Food Magician characters, children learn how to create yummy, healthy and wholesome dishes with minimal adult supervision. In an age rife with food scares and panic about children's diets, The Food Magicians bring back the love into mealtimes and enable families to have quality time together sharing and enjoying nourishing, fantastic food which is cooked by children.

At the Food Magicians' Barbican event, children between the ages of five and twelve years old are invited to take part in workshops, where they have the chance to put the spells into practice and create tasty dishes whilst having fun and working as a team. And of course, sample their magical creations!

The author of the book, Catherine Warrington, will be present for book signing and to read compelling extracts throughout the day. There will also be plenty of other activities including feely food boxes, design your own Food Magician and colouring competitions to make the day with the Food Magicians a memorable and magical one.
