This haven for animals is located in the heart of Camden and provides families and schools with the opportunity to see farm animals in their natural environment.

The farm is an educational and recreational project housing cows, goats, pigs,roosters, hens and horses that developed out of the needs of local people. Initiated in 1972, through the medium of an existing community group, it has provided animals, gardening space, horse riding, and a focus for youth, education, and community work for thousands of users per year. It covers four and a half acres and uses some original buildings from the time the railways were built.

Originally called the Fun Art Farm, and then City Farm 1, Kentish Town City Farm was the first of its kind to be established. As such, it played an important historical role and acted as a model in the development of the City Farm movement as a whole.

It is free to gain access to the Kentish Town City Farm; however some activities are not free of charge but are charged at very reasonable rates, for example a the chance to learn more about dairy farming costs as little as 80p.

The farm is open Tuesday - Sunday from 9.30am till 5.30pm. Visitors are advised to wear suitable clothing and footwear as it can be very muddy.

How to get there

The closest train station is as Gospel Oak, if on the tube the closest stations are at Kentish Town and Chalk Farm. If travelling by bus the 24, 46, 134, 214, 393 and C2 all serve the nearby Kentish Town Road.
