Improve your drawing and painting during a special one-day course at The Serpentine Gallery

Young-people-365.jpgThis fantastic one-day course at The Serpentine is specifically designed for young people aged from 13 to 19 years old.

This creative course, inspired by the Maria Lassnig exhibition, works with artists to explore both figurative and abstract approaches to painting and drawing.

This course is a perfect opportunity to make new work to add to exam project work and portfolios.

The event is taking place on Saturday May 10th between 11am to 5pm.

The course is free but places must be booked in advance. To book your place call 020 7928 1516 or email the organisers.

The closest tube stations to the Serpentine Gallery are Lancaster Gate, South Kensington and Knightsbridge; the closest rail station is Paddington.

Discover the Art of Storytelling at the National Gallery this spring

nationalgallery_main.jpgThe Art of Storytelling is a special event for young people taking place on various dates throughout May at the National Gallery.

During this course those taking part will be drawing in a variety of media and using printing techniques to create your own story assembled in a book or box format. The course is led by artist Thomas Gosebruch.

The course dates have been split up according to age-group, and are as follows:

12-14s: Tuesday 27th/ Wednesday 28th May and is repeated Saturday 31st May/ Sunday 1st June

15-17s: Thursday 29th/ Friday 30th May

Courses take place at 10.30am-3.30pm each day.

The closest tube and train station to Trafalgar Square is Charring Cross.

This experimental art game explores the construction and destruction of images, focusing on the art currently on show in Tate Britain. We'll be examining how precious we are about our personal creative objects - do you think you could destroy your own art, like some artists do?

How to get there

Underground - Pimlico (Victoria Line, 600 metres approx.), Vauxhall (Victoria line, 850 metres approx.), Westminster (Jubilee, District and Circle Lines).

Buses - A number of buses service the area, including the 2, 3, C10, 36, 87, 88, 159, 185, 436 and 507.

Boat - Tate Boat runs every forty minutes along the Thames between Tate Modern, the London Eye and Tate Britain.

Train - Vauxhall or Victoria stations are both located nearby.

Taxi - A taxi drop off/pick up point is situated on Millbank, just outside the Millbank entrance.

Car - There is a limited amount of pay and display parking in the streets surrounding Tate Britain (free at the weekends and after 18.30). Free parking at other times is only available to SEN groups booked into sessions.

Coach - Drop-off point on Millbank

By bike - There are bike racks outside the gallery to the left of the Manton entrance (at the end of Atterbury Street on the corner with John Islip Street) and also on Millbank near the entrance to the Clore gallery.
